Developer Update - Version 1.3 Progress

Two weeks ago I released the first Beta for version 1.3, and followed it up with another just a few days after. Since then I have focused on class work (pray for me) and have toyed with the idea of Controller support. I began implementing it not long ago and I think it is around maybe 50% complete. Controllers can navigate and interact within menus, and right now that is the extent of it.

I plan to work on implementing controller input in the levels of the game itself, that's the end goal: to get full controller support within Orbital Entropy. This works on Windows, Android, and HTML. I have yet to test on Linux, I think there may be a few issues that I might need to work out. Also, controllers working on the HTML build is highly dependent on the Browser. For example, I don't think Safari allows it, and I know many browsers let users enable and disable these things.

There are some issues I am having getting my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to work, and I hear GameMaker also has issues with the Steam Controller. I will admit, this is truly a field I have never navigated before. I think as long as you can get these controllers to map to XInput, all should be fine.

Anyways, here is a video...

#OrbitalEntropy has basic controller support. Right now just for menus but I hope to expand that. Since Nintendo switches the A/B/X/Y button lay out, selecting it within the options menu causes you to exit. A bit of an issue I will need to solve. I also need to fully implement… pic.twitter.com/423vbGjAmv
